really really weird problem with stereo (long)

so today i was gonna go take my old sub to ship out, n e ways i threw that in the back seat and drove out. now i have done this before, a few times, and had no issues, im not even sure if this caused the problem. n e way, i was listening to a song turned the volume down cuz my bro got a phone call, and when i parked the car and went to turn up the volume, it wouldnt turn up, then i tried to go back to the last song i was playin... it didnt go.... so i pressed the power switch and it shut off... and then my antena went UP when i turned OFF the stereo. tried to turn on the radio... and it wouldnt turn on... grrrrrreat my HU is gone... i tried to unplug all the fuses to check'em all were fine, and during this time the antena is going nuts going up and down, half up, half down. grrrreat.... so i take out the main fuse in the engine bay... and the antena stops goin up n down. so i drove home with the fuse out, got home ready to dismantle everything and end up putting the fuse back in to see if it works... and everything is back to normal... WTF!!!!! any explanation for this???

i have the stock bose in a '97.... any idea's what the h3ll happened?

My guess, your voltage dropped below the minimum for the headunit to operate. It would get enough juice from battery to power the antenna, the surge of power would deplete the battery and the sensor would disable it from actually turning on. This is common with poor battery or ground wiring, bad connections, a partially blown fuse or dead alternators.

huh the sub was out when i put the fuse back in, and i dont think there is anything wrong with the electrical system, there are no symptoms at all and a new battery

So this was isolated to the headunit? Definietly need to check all of your wiring and the voltage levels with the car on and off. Is this the same headunit that was grounded only with the antenna wire?

yeah afaik it was isolated to the headunit its working flawlessly now...... could it have been the magnetic charge from the subwoofer?

I have never heard of the magnetic energy of a speaker affectinga headunit that way. There are competitorss that place subs in the dash without incident.

check the ground wire first.. if the ground is not hooked up the antenna will go up...
