Bose Stereo Headunit trouble

I just bought a 1996 maxima gle, and the bose stereo headunit works but sometimes when i turn the car on at first or change a cd, it will say err (error) and spit the cd out and not play. Its done this with brand new cd's too. I will pop it back in and it will do it again, but with enough trys, it will eventually play the cd fine. Does anyone have this same problem, or possibly know how i could fix it (without spending tons on a new unit)?

This seems to be a common problem. Most members usually end up swapping it out with a aftermarket HU(a $60 adapter is needed to do that) or they buy a used one off of someone else. You can find them for sale on ebay or in the "for sale" forum. A used one will probably cost you around $100.
