Tools for Sound System install
So it sounds like on 5th gen cars there's no way in hell I'm fitting speaker wire through the door wiring grommet (at least on the chassis-side), and have to drill a hole right below to route the speaker wire. I also intend to cut speaker holes in my rear deck. So it sounds like I should forget about my Dremel and consider some real tools.
I'll need to buy a decent (corded) drill, some long drill bits (for drilling a hole below the chassis-side of the door grommet), and probably a jigsaw w/ metal cutting blades for cutting the sheet metal under the rear deck. Does that sound right?
Would an el-cheapo walmart drill and jigsaw do the trick or does the "you get what you pay for" phrase really apply here? I probably won't be using either of these very often... though if I buy a decent drill, I'll go the route of drilling my own hole through the firewall rather than routing the wire behind the front left wheel well trim and snaking around to the interior somehow.

what exactly or you installing if you need assistance let me know for an amp you will need a drill to go through the fire wall to run the power wire and yes a WalMart drill will work. If you are just adding an amp to your front speaakers then you dont need to run wire to your door speakers you run it straight to the wires that connect to the deck.

Job already done, thanks for replying though--I used a drill for the power feed and drilled some holes in the chassis for the front door speaker wire (wire goes through chassis hole, then through a small cut hole in the rubber grommet), and while I attempted to use a jigsaw for the metal cutouts in the rear deck, the jigsaw I bought was junk--ended up using my dremel to cut it out (and took back the jigsaw). The dremel job looks kinda jagged, but it does the trick.
