CHEAP Dynamat alternative?

I was thinking of shooting my trunk with the stuff that they use to undercoat cars with. Anyone tried this before? It should work, just tryin to get an opinion or two. I have never used the stuff, so I dont really know how thick it is once it dries. After I'm done with the trunk I might pull out the interior, and do the floors too, or will I get the same effect by spraying the underside of the car?

thanks,
Drew

If I remember correctly someone saying that it really didn't do all that much. Also I think you can't put any Dynamat stuff on top of the undercoating. Again I'm not 100% sure about this, but this is what I remember someone saying before.

Did you undercoat underneath the car, or actually pull out the interior and do the floors inside the car? I actually have a bulk pack of dynamat sitting in my closet. Just curious if anyone had any luck with the undercoating stuff for sound dampening.

I was gonna go this route, but when I went last night to Lowes, I found out that peel & seal is just roof flashing...will that really help?

previous owner had undercoatd the outside, i undercoated the inside. i only did it for rust protection, i couldnt say if undercoating alone will do a great job, but i think better than nothing. dont do it though if you are going to dynamat or else it wont stick

cool, thanks for the insight, i was planning on dynamating the areas that tend to rattle more, like the trunk area and doors. I was just gonna shoot the other areas with the undercoating stuff. It'll be a few weeks till I get the other 2 10's that I need, but once I do, I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

The Peal N Seal works really well. However, after covering my whole trunk and lid last weekend, I'm still trying to figure out how long the smell will last. It should be masked over by the time I finish my false floor and carpet everything. If you buy some peal and seal and dynamat and disregard labeling, you probably could barely tell them apart.
