Right now im just looking for something to replace my crappy Bose unit which died, I was looking at Crutchfeld and for the amount i wanna spend which is under $500 i found a Jvc head unit JVCKDSX950 and some Pioneer 4x6 & 6x9 are these any good...any suggentions would help in the market right now for the equipment.

i dont know about JVC. personally, i dont like their stuff. if youre interested in buying a pioneer DEH-1000, let me know. asking $100 plus shipping.

 

For that minimal budget I suggest you just concern yourself with the features on the deck that you prefer. Think of ergonomics and ease of use as well as cosmetics that appeal to you. In the $200-300 pricerange for decks there isn't a whole lot of difference between brands in regards to SQ or reliability. If tuner performance is important to you consider Blaupunkt, Pioneer or Kenwood as I find they have the best tuner's on decks in that pricerange.

Also consider getting 6.5" round coaxial speakers for the front doors rather than the stock replacement 4x6, you will get much better sound out of them with more midbass response. And the modification to fit them into the doors is not that difficult. Check my past paragraph on this install page of mine.
