Purchasing a Valentine One...Best Way?

I am starting a 5-6 hour commute to school, which i will be traveling this distance about once a month, the cops just shoot radar all day in PA so i will be in the market at the moment for purchasing a detector. I want the best and i am aware of the escort and the V1. I would like to purchase the v1 and have v1.8. I am wondering what the best way to purchase it is. I can probably get it off ebay for 360, it is 400 new from www.valentine1.com. Is it worth the 40 bucks to get it used off ebay, or am i better off just buying it from the company or is there another measure i am not aware of? any help or comments are welcome.

I bought mine off their website, its either that or ebay, but with ebay you never know how old the product is because theyve been making them for 10 years with the same look so you don't know if they technology is still the same.

Haven't been doing enough driving to tell for sure yet. I had the escort 8500 before this but returned it because I really wanted the arrows. Shipping was around 4.99 or so for UPS ground.

I'd say order from the site unless you find someone on ebay whoi has sold a lot of them and has all good feedback.

if you call them, ask them about the used ones they have, like the returns that people do for whatever reason it was, they will sell it to you cheaper, this way, you can know how old it is and also they will warranty it.

I think it is safe to buy off of e-Bay but make sure the auction says the detector is version 1.8. A friend of mine learned the hard way that you can't assume it is a 1.8 unless it states so in the auction.

I bought mine new off the site. Came with a bunch of stuff that makes it worth having it new fresh out of the package. Always a satisfiying experience to crack that plastic for the first time. My V1 saves my *** almost daily. BEWARE however, that although the V1 Detects Laser very well, if you get hit with a laser, the detector is only gonna tell ya that the cop knows how fast your going, unless of course you get it bounced off someone elses car. I got 2 laser tickets :\ Just gotta drive more carefully, watch for those Motorcycle cops too!
