Routing speaker wire from cabin to door on 5th gen

Is it possible to do run one through the existing wiring in the door through the molex connector, or do i have to create a new hole for this in my door and cabin?

thanks

Two choices: Drill a hole in the door and the frame or drill a hole through the connector and run your wire through it.

I had the same question when I did my install. Check out this thread for more info. I think you'd be better off drilling holes.

Also, here is a pic of what I did. The red arrows point out the multi-pin connector. I took this apart and really didn't see any chance of drilling through it, maybe you could fair better. The yellow arrow is the speaker wire I put in after drilling holes in both the door and behind the kick panels. There are more pics on my homepage if you're interested.

You need to drill from the inside of the cabin. When going into the door your can actually cut a small slit and feed it through there.

Don, I'm not sure we're thinking of the same thing...? When I took apart the multi-pin connector at the door, it was nothing but a big white piece of plastic with male/female pins facing eachother. I didn't see anywhere to feed a wire.

Did you post this same thread in the 5th gener. forum? I answered this thread also in the 5th gener. forum.

You should have seen an area about 1/4 inch square that was void of any pins, drill there and run some zip wire through it. As long as you are not trying to shove 8 Ga wire through it you should be OK.

Tony,

I mean on the door side of the wiring, not on the body side. Yea on the body side there is no way to get through, but on the door a small slit can be made if you pop out the grommet, slice, then put it back in.
