Component Speaker Brand Recommendations?
For those who have component speakers (4th gen especially), what brand(s) do you have? How do you like what you have?
Just scouting out what I should buy for my '99SE-L...

I can sum up the responses you will get:
MB Quart
Boston Acoustics
Diamond Audio
Infinity Perfects
Focal
JL
Those are the generally accepted "good" brands for components. There's others, but those are the popular and easy to find ones.

i just had Phoenix Gold Tantrum-X 6.5 Components http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PHOTX65COMP installed in my 97 Max and i would highly reccomend them for the price ($170). I was also looking at these CDT Classics http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/specials_speakers.html they're supposed 2 be awesome speakers and are only so cheap because the paint isnt perfect on them.

Hi,
I have a 4th gen and I have had Infinity Kappa 6.5 Components for years and love them. They are not as good as some of the others, but they sound great to me (and for the price as well). Some of the others are worthless to get (ex: Perfects), unless you are sending them a ton of power.

I recently installed my Adire Koda mids. I replaced DA Hex 5.25's and 6.5's. The Koda's seem to have the upper midrange smoothness that I was after and plenty of midbass without any bass adjustment. Would likely need to turn down the bass to have a flat response curve.
I'll sell you my MBQuart QM218.61Q's for $250 and I'll pay for the shipping. These orginally retailed for $800. They are SWEET speakers. They have only a few months of light use on them. Send me an email at drewhfarrar@aol.com if you're interested.
I installed Kicker Resolitions in my 98, and I love them. Iwill be creating kick pods in the winter to help image them better and try and get a bit more mid bass out of them. I am running over 360 watts RMS to the pair (though my gains are way down).
