dunno how much you want to spend but check out adire audio( www.adireaudio.com) The 15" Brahma doesnt require very much space at all. They also have a few other 15" subs.

I have a friend with a 15 inch brahma in a box that can't be any more than 2 cubic feet. He used to have it in over 3 feet but the smaller box is actually better, less of the really low bass. In the big box the sub bass was over-emphasized. It probably also helped that be now has a better set of mids and tweets. For an even smaller box you can use the Adire Tumult, built for home and outrageous in car.

Go to ebay and search for Credence under subwoofers. These are the old style Kicker solobarics. You can buy a pair for around $189ish and they will work well in a sealed box just above 1 cubic foot.

The old style kicker solo's don't perform better than new speakers that sell from $100 - $150. But the box size quoted was for an old solo 12".

If you only have 1.3 cubic feet you need a sub that only needs 1.05 - 1.15 cubic feet. Once you subtract sub displacement that's all you will have left. I would look into a different enclosure design or location. Or a smaller sub.

To get the low end you need more power. But if you need more power than the voice coil can handle it will overheat. Other thing is that the smaller the box the less air there is to cool the subs voice coil. I think the Ed 15 is good down to 1.5 cubic feet. The Tumult would likely do well in car with a box that small. But neither of these fit the cheap requirement. You will have to make a compromise somewhere, especially if you want cheap. If you really wanted the bass that a 15 can provide you would compromise by useing a bigger box or designing a box that wraps around the curves of the trunk to get the needed volume. There are some really good 12 inch subs that can play lower and louder than most 15's sold a few years ago.
