Body control module/alarm bypass

I have reason to believe my Body Control Module is on the outs, (my dome light no longer comes on with the door opening/factory alarm unlock button, but the door lights do.) My main question is if i hook up a aftermarket alarm, will it bypass this module and restore my dome light function with the door opening/unlock of the remote.

It should, just as long you bypass the BCM in the car and hook it up independently with the alarm. Most alarms offer the dome light option, but it's just a bonus for us Max owners that we already have this feature.
