New Amp.....now headlights dim
I just installed an MMATS D200HC on my Brahma B12. Everything is working awesome except now my headlights are really dimming when the bass hits. When I installed it I also upgraded to 1/0 Gauge power and ground wire and battery ground. I currently have a 1F cap and a stock battery. What would the first step here be. Upgrading the battery to an Optima Yellow top or adding more capacitance? BTW are Battcaps all they claim to be?
Sounds like that 3 year old battery needs some help...I would probably say the system is within the range of most stock electrical systems, but it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the power wires from the Alternator and starter to help with the additional current needed. And batcaps do a heck of a job.
I will go ahead and upgrade the power wire from the batt to the alternator, no problem there. Why would I need to upgrade the power wire to the starter motor? Also what is the model number of the Optima Yellow top batt. for a 5th. Gen? Is it the same as the 4th. Gen, 'cause they don't have a listing for it in their catalog.
how are ur gain levels set on the amp? is everything all the way up? consider playing with it a little bit and see if it helps, also, what RMS power is the amp putting out and what RMS power can the sub handle?

Since you already have 1/0 wires you should probably look into changing your battery if you have not done so. If you still have the problem you might want to look into upgrading your alternator. Upgrading your alternator is a little pricy but if you play your system "loud" most of the times it will benefit your cars electrical system.

that pic showed my setup..this should show what i'm holding it down with (pic below)
you can't use your stock 5th gen tie down...because it curves down and this battery sits low, the tread on the j-bolts don't far enough.

hope this helps.

the fact that the amp is putting out more power than the sub can handle may be the issue here, the amp has no where to send the excess power so it takes some of ur voltage away from everything else to burn up the excess power, i bet if u had a diff sub in their the results might be differerent or i am way off
