aftermarket HU and LCD killed my battery

Well, all of a sudden, my car stopped starting. i go to a shop and they say that my battery is completely dead, and that they think that something must be "draining" the battery even though i didn't leave anything on. He said it might be something with the wiring of the HU and the lcd. Btw, its redmax's lcd. i wired it myself and has been working fine since 3 months ago. I connected the power wires and spliced it to the lcd and HU. Anyone have similiar problems? coz i don't want to get a battery just to have it die on me every 3 months. Thanks.

And LCD and aftermarket radio would not cause it to die. Especially if its been fine for three mos. It is just coincidence and of course a shop would blame anything aftermarket first especially if they didnt put it in.

You cant just connect a wire to power it must be connected to the acessory wire in your car. You need o make sure when the HU is connected it gets power through acessory otherwise it will continue to drain power when the car is off. Do you self a favor and take the car to a qualified installer....

Yea, they told me there is definitly something draining the battery when the car is off. I connected the screen en hu to the same power wire that connected my original bose hu. I connected a new power inverter maybe a week and a half prior to my battery dying. but the wires aren't connect... i just plugged it into the cigarette plug... could this be the reason? I don't think it does but thats the only thing i changed in my car around the time the battery died. Thanks for the feedback.

what is the draw that is there when you have the car turned off. The mechanic should at least been able to tell you that. That would help you a little to figure out where the trouble is. Also knowing that helps find stuff if there is more than one thing wrong.

Some 12 oulets do not shut off when the car is off. If you have the inverter plugged in and its turned off it still may draw power...It may also be faulty...Anyone know how i can change the thing that say i must read import faq before posting?

as you post more, your "thing" will change...and you will no longer be considered a noobie.
