Kappa Perfect Sub Wiring Question

Hi,

First off I have searched for hours about how to wire subs on this forum and the 12 volt and I think have confused myself more. My old amp and one of my old subs blew so I got a new amp, a Kenwood Excelon x650 five channel amp and another Kappa Perfect 12 (single voice) to match my other one. Now my famous question is what is the best way to wire it in terms of power output. The subs are 4ohm (single voice coil as i said).

The amp ratings(for sub output):

4 ohms 130 watts x 1 (20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.05% THD) + (20 Hz-200 Hz, 0.5% THD)
(2 ohms):200 watts x 1 (1 kHz, 0.5% THD) + (100 Hz, 0.8% THD)

I would assume 2ohm right? How do I know if my amp is stable? It won't blow out my subs if I run them lower right? So then how do I physically wire them (I am so confused)? Does 2ohm really sound that much different (clarity) compared to 4? Sorry again for all the q's, but thanks!

The difference in 2 or 4 Ohm has nothing to do with sound quality. It is made that way for ease of installation. If you have a single coil 4Ohm sub, then you have no choice but to run it in 4Ohm to the amp.

Run them in parallel to each other. Positive to positive, negative to negative.

pearl,

Thanks for the help.

Do you mean like this?

This is a really dumb question, but how many physical wires do I need?
