recomendation on system please....

OK I have been putting a system together now for several months....I am definitely going to need help installing this thing! But I dont yet have all the things I need so thats for the future....
anyway, I have these componant thus far...

Kenwood KDC-X769 excelon cd player
redmax lcd screen
galaxia dvd player (via redmax as well)
2 fosgate 10" in box

Can you peeps give me recomendations on good speakers to finish this system up and amps to run it? I am thinking about getting a kenwood 5 ch amp but not sure if its enough....its a kenwood KAC-X650D...
I was wondering...can I hook up the front and rear speakers to 4 channels of the amp, the 2 tweets to the hu and the 2 tens to the 1 remaining ch of the amp? So can I wire 2 speakers to 1 channel together? thanks all!

hmm, i used to have a pair of punch tens, think they were 150 rms 400 max. right now i have a pair of HEs tens pushed by a 400s amp. works rather well.

1) i wouldn't run the tweeters off the hu by itself. you should probably hook them up off the front speakers with a bass blocker.
2) you can run the fronts, rears, and subs that way you said.
3) as far as speakers go, that is personal preference.

thanks for the info everyone! I know everyone hears speakers differently but I have no idea what speakers are good! Also, I thought the bose speakers sounded pretty good when they were new! At least they were the best sounding speakers I had every had in a car (never got aftermarket speakers before, aside from subs)....I have heard good things about MB Quartz....seen some on ebay, MB Quartz Competition Q series....kinda pricey though....what if I got these for the front, none in the rear and subs? Do I really need rear speakers? With speakers of such high quality in the front, would that make up for not having rears? I never sit in the back so I am not too worried about it sounding as good as the front!

the rear speakers provide back fill sound. i think that is what it is called. it all depends on what you want.

what exactly are you looking to achieve? a good sound staging system or a loud system?

I dont want it to be really really loud, just really good quality sound....not sure what you mean by sound staging...I want to be able to hear every individual instrument with clarity and purity of sound....not trying to deafen myself though!!

if your willing to spend the money on the MB Q's then i would tell you to get Focals for the front.

you should get to amps for you system.

a 2 channel anp for your 2 subs.

a 4 channel amp for your front & rear speakers.

if you want good quality, then you would want rear speakers.

you cant get the Focals that are any good for $300, its more like $800+, but if i were you I would get either OzAudio components or Adire Audio Koda, trust me, they are amazing and every bit as good as Focal Utopia. If you want to spend a bit more than $300 look in Diamond Audio Hex components, i like the silk as opposed to the aluminum hex.

you can get the focal 165k for about $350

you could also get the focal 165k2 for about $425

i was told that the utopia will not fit in the front doors of a 4th gen without modding the door.

Focal Acess components are not very expensive, and sound amazing. $178. I have a pair and I have nothing bad to say about them.

Heres a link to get them for that price.
http://www.woofersetc.com/product.as...0&1=292&3=1807

Definately get an amplifier for your interiors. Look for a Concept Audio 50x4 amp. Not that expensive and provides great clean power.

For the rear speakers, I suggest watching ebay for some Focal woofers, or get the acess coaxials off of the same website for $127.

http://www.woofersetc.com/product.as...0&1=291&3=1804

Close enough to $300?

I guarantee that with the concept amp and those speakers, you will be happy.
And people who spent a crapload more money on their systems bill be bowing before you.

DJ, what kind of music do you primarily listen to?

I like clean airy not too too brite sounding systems with accurate tight bass that isn't overpowering.

Would you say that your system fits that description. I know it's all relative but I wanted to get your oppinon.

I listen to Trance, Hard Trance, Break Beats, and some house now and then. The the system I listed there is exactly what I have in my lincoln (currently being rebuilt). It had 2 infinity kappa perfect 12's in it, not sure what Im putting in next.

The focals definately are not too brite, there is tweeter gain control on the x-overs of the components, so if its too bright for your taste, knock it down 3 db. The Access speakers do nice bass, but its no where near overpowering. They will leave you happy without subs because what you hear will sound so nice.
