Subwoofer question?

I'm going to be purchasing a 5-channel kicker amp to run my interior speakers and it says I have 200w for my subwoofer output. Now I already have 2 12" subs (BS-Hollywood Excursions) in a box powered by a 300w audiobahn amp. My question is if I keep the Audiobahn amp and put some better, but not too powerful, subs in can it be powered by the Kicker amp w/o blowing or messing anything up? Since the Audiobahn is powering those subs will it give them more power that the 200w the Kicker pushes out? Mind u that the Kicker already has a bass control ****...will it still be able to control the base too? Thanks in Advance!

Yes, your kicker amp will push one sub very we ll. Audiobahn would be nice also. A damn good sub for the money is the Kicker Comp VR 12. It is ~$80 from www.ikesound.com

No. I had a BP600.1 that blew.
Now I am running a PG Octane R amp on my sub.
In the future, I will be installing a BP600.1 on my sub and move my PG amp to components.

Sorry for the confusion.

Maximamaybe, you didn't confuse me...the original post did. It sounded like he wants to run 2 amps to the subs at the same time. Thats what I was talking about.

I'm sorry for the confusion. What I was trying to do is hook a 300w amp that I have for my subs to the 5-channel 700w amp that I will have the interior speakers too. Is that possible?

The other idea is: I already have a 300w 2-channel amp for my subs. I was going to get a 4-channel amp for the interior speakers. Probably in the near future sale that 300w amp and get a 800w instead.

Does that make sense now?

hook the 300 watt amp to the 5 channel for added power to the sub? no. Just use the 300 watt amp for the interior speakers and the 300 watt amp for the subs.

So what type of connections do I use to run these two amps? Like should I use one power wire and then a splitter to the two amps? Why is that the ground wire shouldn't be very long?

You have 3 good options.
1. Run the main wire to a distibution block then split one power off for each amp. (Fairly cheap)
2. Run the main power wire to a fused distribution block and then split off 1 wire for each amp. (Around $25-$30)
3. Buy a 1 farad cap and then buy some terminal connectors. Run the Main power wire to the cap input, then run seperate wires from the output to each amp.

Number 3 si what I will be doing.

There is a 4th option as well. Run from the battery to a Dist block. From the distribution block or fused block run power to your mids and tweets amp. Run a second large wire from the fused D-block to your cap. Then from the cap to the sub amp. This way you get the best benefit from the cap. If you put a fuse between the cap and sub amp you eliminate the benefit of the cap with the resistance in the fuse. I never thought about this before meeting Mark Eldridge at the JBL Engineered Mayhem tour a few weeks ago. But it makes perfect logical sense.
