Custom Cellphone Install

Ok, they don't make a full-install kit for my cellphone (Sanyo 8100), so I decided to buy one of the "easy install" kits and tear the thing apart to make my own kit.

I'm planning on having the microphone stick out of the top of my driver's side A pillar.

I'm not sure what to do with the speaker. I think I might try to install it into the side of my console, so the speaker is aimed at my right-side... it isn't an ideal location as far as the sound goes, but the install would look clean and it'd be out of view.

Also, I'm thinking about housing the circuit board inside the center console and hoping to align it so the volumn switch can be sticking out of one of the un-used switch-plate-things there.

As for the phone-wire, I have a "sticky" pad on my dash where I leave my phone, so I think I'm going to have the cord in the glovebox. I hate wires, and that way I can hide it when I'm not using it, and just pull it out and plug it in when I need it.

Any thoughts/suggestions on where to place everything? I'm going to be re-wiring the mic/speaker/power/phone-cord - so it doesn't matter where they are placed relative to each other.

Thanks!

Here's the kit as it is now:

Ok, I think I've decided but I have a quick question for the audio guys...

The kit has it's own little 3" speaker that it uses, if I take the signal meant for that speaker and tap it into the front speakers of my car, will it keep the same amount of volumn that it had on the little guy, or does it take a significant amount more of power to create the same volume level on the bigger speakers?

Here's my plan:
*Tap the output into my car's speakers
*Have the Mic hang out of the hole for the rear-view-mirror post
*Mount the circuitry/volume switch on the inside of my dash so that the volume switch can be accessed by opening the glove box
*Keep the phone cord in the box, and pull it out/attach it as needed.

You will need some sort of amp to drive the front speakers from that thing. If you can find a really small amplifier that takes speaker level inputs, you could mount it under your seat and use it to power the front speakers for the phone. Something like this: MTX Thunder 4122 would be perfect. Low power, it has speaker level inputs, and it turns on when it detects an audio signal. You can find it for cheaper on eBay. However, the cost of your install just went up by about 500%, . Maybe you can find another amp similar to it and get it used on eBay for cheap? Might be worth a try.

As someone was just telling me recently, you could then use a set of transfer relays to toggle the speakers over to the output from this amp when you receive a call.
