V1 problems
I bought a V1 (v1.8) about a month ago and the thing has never helped to alert me of a cop. I regularly see state troopers in medians obviously there to catch speeders (they must be using some form of radar/laser), in a stretch of highway that gets a decent amount of traffic. Never has the V1 even beeped one when I get close to them, or pass them. Last week, the local cops had one of those "stands" set up that show you how fast you are going? Obviously, it has radar in it else there's no way it could determine what your speed is. Anyway, it was set up in a completely flat stretch of road, visible from at least a qtr to half mile away. The V1 didn't even beep till I was about 25 yards from the thing ! Then, everytime I'm behind a Chev. Trailblazer or Envoy, the laser alerts on the V1 go crazy..constant beeping. Has that happened to any of you?
It's mounted up above the rear view mirror, on the "all bogeys" mode, & I have 5% tint on all windows besides the front. What the hell is wrong here?! Sorry for it being long but it sucks when you spend $400 on something that doesn't do what it's supposed to.
Btw. does anyone know what PA State Troopers use to measure speed?

I have the SR1, and it lets me know about everything. You must have gotten abad one, or it needs to be set up. And you will find that not every cop uses radar all the time. 3/4 of the time they are sitting on the side of the road, they are just doing paperwork, or taking a break. That is all it takes to make the average driver slow down. The cops can still get you with instant-on radar, and laser though. Detectors just let you know when they are running constant radar. Not nearly as many cops have laser, because the guns are still expensive. Every state trooper I have seen has K or Ka band, except in New Jersey, where they use X band. The only Laser I have picked up is in McLean, Va (rich neighborhood).

My V1 works great, those speed stands that tell you how fast you are going will set mine off from a mile away. As for the trailblazers or envoys, their 3rd high brake light mimics the signal of police laser hence fooling the V1 and making it beep.

Your V1 should also go CRAZY when you pass by supermarkets, and pharmacies. (motion-sensing doors)
