New Kicker Solobaric L7 - Pics

After my old L7 went kaboom (for no reason I might add) Kicker was nice enough to send me a new one.

Great Customer service !

Here are a couple new pics. Also for those who have not seen my re-designed fake floor. I have 2 plates to completely cover the holes...everything vanishes right before your eyes!!

It hits very hard, I can't push the thing yet, have to break it in. But I can tell its going to hit much harder than the 1999 L7 (Black One).

Only change this time is I filled the enclosure with some polyfill, try to boost up the lows and fool the sub into thinking its a larger box.

alrite, man, gotta ask you this: how big is the box??? I currently have an 12 L5 which im not using but going to and I wanna mount it exactly like yours. so how big should the box be (volume, and if you have dimensions, that would be great!)

thank everyone

Well looking at the www.kicker.com website you see the min requirements for a L5 is .88 cf and max is 2.0. Now depending on what type of sound your looking for will depend on the size of the sealed enclosure. What I find best is a 1 cf enclosure (don't forget to take into account the displacement of the sub).

The full tire well is around 2.4 cf if I remember correctly so your going to have section off a corner of it. I believe my interior dementions are 16.5"x16.5"x8.5". Its very hard to get an extact volume from dementions with the maxima's trunk as a base because its bumpy and very uneven.
After I made the fiberglass enclosure I filled it with water and then used a shopvac to suck it all out and measure the volume that way (yes I had a lake in the trunk of my maxima). I found my box almost perfect size and it sounds great.

1 cf boxes with kicker subs will produce a hard, low hitting sound, more SQ. If you want more SQ build the box a little larger. This will also give you a wider range of fequencies.

If you make the box 1 cf and want good low end response with nice SQ then I would suggest adding around 1/2 pound polyfill to the bottom of thebox. This will "fool" the box into thinking its larger in size and give you more SQ.

Let me know if you need some help with building instructions, I can post some up for you.

thanks, ReddoG, I found your post very helpful. Right now I'm open for suggestions/comments, since nothing has been built yet (yeah, I spent a fortune for audio equipment before, but decided to organize only now).
btw, I was also looking at kickers website also and decided to go with 2 cf enclosure.
if you have any time, visit this thread (also by me), b/c I don't wanna duplicate them

Thanks gents for the props. Being my first real setup it took me a fair amount of time to get it finished.
