sorry, the forum ate my long explanitory post, so heres what you get.

Focal is the cheap one of the expensive lines of speakers, and some sets can be had for under 200.

for *cheaper than* aidre, look at *Elementa designs* www.edesignaudio.com

There is no way for a person to tell you what speakers will sound best to you. Every ear on the planet is different, even on the same head.

When you ask, "What sounds better than . . .", be specific. Give an exact model number. Of course the answer would still be the same as what I put above. Every mid sounds different than another mid, even the same model numers. Same for tweets. Same for the crossover modules. Pair matched units are a good percent more expensive. But only a small percentage of musicians or other music professionals would likely hear the difference. Our ears are very sensitive but they are not like a machine such as a radar. They can hear the same signal within minutes of each other and they may or may not sound the same.
