Opinions on keeping Bose, but upgrading speakers

Has anyone kept their Bose HU but replaced the 4 door speakers (02 SE) and sub?

I never thought about it until I came across the Crutchfield site and they recommend replacing all factor speakers...of course this is how they make money.

Just curious if upgrading the stock "Bose" speakers would really make that much of a difference.

Yup...it will sound like crap if you keep the Bose H/U. The speakers and H/U are tweeked to work together (as well as the amp). If your going to remove the speakers, be prepared to buy a new H/U. BTW anyone know where the Bose amp is located in a 95 Max?

the amps are all on the speakers for ur '95. The bose can sound good with new speakers, but u need an external amp to power them, the reason the bose speakers sound the way they do is because of the crossovers that are in the amplifier, get rid of that amp and put in something better, and use it to power up ur 4 speakers and maybe another amp for the sub and u'll be okay while still using the stock head unit
