do you use the bass boost?

Most hu's have some kind of a bass boost. My alpine has mx. I don't get any bass frlom my subs unless I use it but some people say it distorts it? What does everyone else do?

What model Alpine? I have CDA-9813, and I don't need mx for the subs to be loud. Matter of fact, the mx does distort my system a little, but I'm sure that varies from system to system.

I have the 9815 also and don't use MX. I just adjusted the equalizer curve by hitting EQ, then hit EQ again and held it in. My subs don't sound right w/ the MX on.

mine doesnt have a bass boost either. I know you were referring to Alpines, but I think in general it does distort the sound.

the problem with mx is probably that it sends too much boost to the preamps, which sux because then u have too much voltage going into the amp sending too much bass to ur subs causing distortion
