Opinions wanted on 10" sub
Opinions wanted on 10" sub
I have an older JL 10w3 in a sealed box that someone wants to buy from me, so it seems like a good opportunity to upgrade a bit.
I am currently running my single sub off of the rear two channels (bridged) of a Phoenix Gold m44 amp. I am considering using and older Autotek amp to run just the sub, but I will likely stay with the PG for now.
I want to stay with one 10" sub, mostly because it's already set up that way and I don't want to take up more room than I have to.
I would like to keep the price under $250, probably around $150-200 if possible.
I was looking at primarily DVC subs like the 10w3 v2 (if I can find one cheap enough), the Eclipse DVC 10 (I think it was aluminum series, also need to get a good deal) and the Rockford Fosgate HX2 RFR3110 (I think that's the model, it's a newer DVC 10 by them). Those were kind of the upper end of my pricing, so any other ideas would be great.
I am not set on these particular speakers, they are just starting points for discussion. I am open to any suggestions and opinions you may have.
thanks and fire away!

amp ratings are hard to pinpoint. This amp is like eight years old and I think it was designed for lower wattage competitions. It seems to put out a lot more power than the ratings say. It makes the 10w3 pound hard and the gain is only up about 80 percent.
Here are the specs on it:
M44 SPECIFICATIONS:
Into 4 ohms @ 12.5/14.4 VDC
40/55 WRMS x 4
Into 2 ohms @ 14.4 VDC
80 WRMS x 4
Bridged into 4 ohms @ 14.4 VDC
105 WRMS x 2
Frequency Response
+/-1dB from 20Hz to 20kHz
Signal to Noise Ratio
>100dB
Input Sensitivity
200 millivolts to 2 volts
Input Impedance
>10k ohms
Input Voltage Range
10.5 volts to 15.0 volts
Typical current draw at idle
750 milliamps
Crossover Frequencies
30Hz to 600Hz
Crossover Slopes
12dB per Octave
Bass EQ
0 to + 12dB @ 45Hz
Minimum Impedance
2 ohm bridged/1ohm stereo
Dimensions, M44 & M100
18.0"L x 10.6"W x 2.0"H
I mostly listen to rock and rap, but I have a large variety of music and I mix and match stuff you wouldn't believe could be found on the same disc.
