stolen faceplate from headunit

stolen faceplate from headunit

some morons busted into my beautiful maxima this friday, stealing one of my amps and the faceplate off my headunit

anyone know if you can replace the faceplate cheap? or do i have to buy a whole new headunit

it is a kenwood kdc-x869

i kno eclipse has like special anti-theft crap, not sure what kenwood does, anyone know?

Faceplates aren't cheap. If they were cheap, they wouldn't be effective theft deterrents. Why not steal a radio without a faceplate, if you could get one for $20? I think they're somewhere around $200-$250. Might as well buy a new HU.

I never take mine out because i'm lazy. I think there is a way to screw down the face plate to the unit so the it would not be removable, like they do in the car stereo shops. Probably would'nt do much good though, beacuse a thief would probably break it as he is stealing it.

id just go to a pos store like circuit city and nik one off of one of theres if you can find the same hu, id just buy a new hu

nah most of them have tags on there, i know we do it at bb, we have that happen a bunch, some one stole the tweeters off of a pair of rockfordfosgate 6x9's and 6 1/2's on tuesday. it does happen. was that hu excelon, i know those dont come cheep, my friend had his torn apart and was gonna buy a new faceplate, they wanted $325 for it, thats about 3/4 of what he paid in the first place.

Try Ebay. Just type in a search of your exact model, and sometimes you'll find someone just selling the faceplate and not the whole headunit. This is what I did. I just happened to come across a faceplate for my Kenwood because the face on my old one was pretty well scratched. I think I paid like $10.00 for the faceplate. It just depends on the discretion of the seller. Good luck!

and you actually might find your own faceplate there.
