They compare to Pyramid,Pyle, etc. MA Audio used to be known as Mobile Authority. They had a bad/cheap name then, so they shortened it in the hopes of deceiving people. This questions comes up about once a month.

MA is pretty crappy, their amps are way overrated.. SOME of their subs are halfway decent but you're better off getting something else (a good name brand)

Which ones of you have actually used a MA Audio amplifier. If you go to a full fledged car audio board you'll see they actually have a good rep right now. They are NOT a pyramid clone. They are basically like Audiobahn. I used to run a HC4002 Ma Audio amplifier to a pair of Orion HCCA's. The setup SLAMMED! And I've run a TON of different setups.

amps I've used

Hifonics Zeus z600
Memphis 1000D
Ma Audio HC4002
Aura 4150Q
Earthquake PHd2
JBL 1200.1
Visonik 900xd
USacoustics 1000D

My favorites without a doubt have been the JBl 1200.1, the Earthquake PHD2, Visonik 900XD and the MA Audio HC4002, (Aura 4150Q was one of the best multichannels I ever heard).

Don't knock MA till you've tried there high end

Ive seen and played with their "highend" and I still will keep my opinion of them. Audiobahn, although better, still not close to being a "highend" product either. A ton of flashyness and very little quality. Not flaming anyone for having them, just once again voicing my opinion. 16+ years in the business, take it for what its worth.

I'm not saying Audiobahn or MA Audio is "High End". But I also don't think it is the equivalent to Pyramid. Your years in the business are meaningless, because you already gave out misinformation about MA Audio. For one you have the story wrong, MA Audio is not simply Mobile authority because they simply shortened the name to rip people off. Yes they are part of Anaba, the parent company of Mobile Authority/Thump. Anaba also makes Ultra Linear, Visonik and Clif Designs. MA Audio was created as another venture a way of them getting into the respectable car audio business, like a MTX. Since then they have also added Clif and Visonik, and both did well in the Comp lanes this year. And I have owned there equipment and I found it to be fairly decent for the price. And others in car audio forums are saying the same thing.

Are their subwoofers a Adire Brahma or a W7.... No
Are their amplifiers equal to Brax, MMats or ARC... No
Are they crap like Pyramid or Pyle? ABSOLUTELY NOT

They're somewhere in the middle.

What are the specs of the sub he is using such as model number, also what box size is he using. I don't care what sub your using, if your running a sealed box and it leaks, it's going to sound like ****. Remember install is 80% of the game, Doesn't matter if the Sub says JL, or Digital Designs (Though you wouldn't seal a DD anyways :-)

What is your friends price range, a cheap sub to me is $160.. a cheap sub to you and your friend might be $50.. let me know and I'll try to help

Actually like you said Anaba is the parent company meaning they own MA. Different lines are still produced. DEI owns A/D/S, PPI and Orion so are they all Made by DEI? No. Are they all the same quality ? No. RF Corp owns MBQ,LA and a few others are They all the same? No. Same thing applies to many others... Bottom line Mobile Authority = MA Audio Same company same low quality product. As you can see many others here agree and they are not a bunch of Newbs to the audio world.

Look you don't have to be a noob to say flatly it sucks. Just being uneducated in the matter. Does some of the MA Audio line up share traits of Thump? Yes they do, the Lowend MA Audio infact sucks! But there higher end stuff like the HX series and DX Class D amps, as well as Hardkore Subs, infact are decent quality equipment. That is no different though then hearing a Lightning Audio bolt subwoofer (Which sucks hard) and turning around and saying a LA Strike X1 (which was one bad *** sub when it was made) is terrible! Try the whole line then give an opinion.

i'm pretty sure Don has heard the whole line in the years of his profession. and besides, this thread is asking for opinions, and he gave his 2 cents.

haha ur friend just went out n got xtant subs without knowing if their any good? my bet is they'll still sound liek crap bc of the leak in the box, a slight leak will do big damage to the sound reproduction of any sub.

If you have a leak in the box, any sub you put in there will suck. But I did ask you what model number of the sub you have is. If it is a lowend model, I'm sure as hell it is nothing special. But you have to put a sub in the correct box and install it correct before you make a blanket statement.
