Door speakers

I got a new pair of Rosckford Fostgates to replace my door speakers for my 98. Are they hard to put in. I know someone mentioned having to take the whole door panel off. But is this hard to do, and if so, does anyone know of any write-ups on how to?

Don't have the write up but look for all the screws on the door and start from there. All doors should have buttons that you can pop out.It shouldn't take long cause I change door speakers for a lotta friends.

Here is what you do-
1st remove the bezel around the lock latch, use a screwdriver to pry the area closest to the windsield first, then carefuly remove it. You will be able to feel your way out after the intial pop.
Next, unscrew the little light at the bottom of the door and disconnect it. While you are down there, you will see two screws underneith the pocket.-Unscrew them.
Now, inside the hand grip You use to close the door, there is a little plastic cover (covering the screw) pry it off and unscrew the screw.
So now, the door panel is being held in place by nothing more than the little plastic grommet type thingies. start pulling from the bottom up, the panel will start to pop off. Once you get to the top of the door, start pulling by the triangle first and pull the panel torwards you. Once you have pulled that part of the panel out, lift the top of the panel ( By the window) straight up.

When you do the actual hook up check your negatives because all the wires in my Max were different colors!! Good old nissan!! I put in new wire so when I up grade I will know what is what. I suggest you do that too if you run into the multi color wiring.

I just did this 2 weeks ago (with Fosgates). At least in my 96, the hardest part is getting that plastic piece around the door handle off. It took a lot of prying, and we broke one. The crutchfield guide says to pop the part towards the REAR of the car first, which was easy. Then there's a snap on top and bottom (no snap in the front of this piece)...those were a lot harder to get off, at least for me. It just took a lot of prying. Otherwise, this was a really easy install. As far as wiring, I had the plug adaptors from Crutchfield so mine just plugged in. If you need to splice wires I wouldn't be able to give you good advice.

Maybe this is a basic question, but do you mean different colors than the wiring diagram, or what? How do you know what the colors SHOULD be, and if they're wrong how can you tell which wires are which? Thanks!

Sorry 'bout not being clear. When I installed pioneer 6 1/4s the driver side wiring was blue (+) and blue w/white (-). On the passenger side it was like purple (+) and red (-). I cant remember the exact colors cuz it has been a while, but that was about right. No color of wire matched at all, and they were different for all speakers, front and back. My friend ran the end of the wire to the car battery and checked to see which wire made the speaker jump. I will get an exact answer for you tomorrow and I will pm you.

What I did was pull my headunit out and looked at what wires on the adapter harness matched with what wires on the Nissan side. All wires on adapter harness's are the same color code (some are even labeled on the wire itself).
