Adding passive crossovers to Stock Bose.
Adding passive crossovers to Stock Bose.
Has anyone added passive crossovers by adding capacitors in line to the speakers on a bose system? i am going to try to bypass the bass going to the rear speakers so i can turn up the bass **** on the stock bose head unit, and only affect the bass going to the sub, hoping for cleaner and louder sound, with less distortion.
also leaning towards a crossover point at around 200 hz, bc my sub is crossed around 180 and the roll off on the bose will be about 6db at the 200 hz crossover, the subs are rolling off at about 18db on the 180 hz cross

I would lean toward a getting a new headunit with seperate sub pre-out and level control. The bass **** center frequency is normally in the midbass range.
If you are set on putting something in line with the bose speakers I would look into getting something line level before the bose amps. Otherwise you need to measure the nominal resistance of the bose speakers to determine your cap value. Also keep in mind that most cheap caps add some of their own sound to the system.

i dont want to upgrade the headunit right now, so im more inclined to go with the caps. if i do it line lever before the amps i will affect the amps i have running the subs, i dont want to do that.

Line level before the bose amps. Not before the sub amp.
