1996 GLE w/ Bose- Keep Bose fronts or replace w/ 6.75" coaxials?
I have a 1996 GLE w/ the factory Bose. As of right now I have added a 12" sub seeing about 100 watts. It does not sound bad, but there are definate limitations to what is in there now. Money IS a factor. I have 2 channels of a 4 channel amp open, and I am considering adding some 6.75" coaxials in my front doors.
Right now the Bose signal is inputted directly to the high-level inputs on the amp, but that will change in the next week or so with an OEM LOC (one of the premium ones that are custom designed for the max, not a universal one). When I do that, I will hopefull clean up some of the signal to the subs and give me an okaty signal to the front stage, but coaxials low in the doors might not be the best route for even moderate sound quality.
If I do this, the speakers will see about 25 watts RMS each. So here is the question:
Should I get some moderately priced 6.75" coaxials and amp them, or just keep the Bose fronts?
