radio question?? GROUND ISSUE !!HELP PLEASE!!

ok i have gone through many hrs of torment trying to figure this out. i hav a pioneer avh - p6500dvd player and installed myself. i no longer have the stock bose speakers either. so basically all bose wiring has been cut. the wireing arness for the p6500 was done as supposed to be. except i left out the power antenna (get back to that later) i used the stock ground. after about a week and half of great listening, the interior speakers went dead. only bass was heard. i then removoed everything and reattached a seperate ground to the already existing chasis ground. nothing. i later installed a spare headunit. (pioneer) and worked fine. same wireing as the p6500. (no antenna) after about a week the asame problem arose. the interiors krackled after warmup, and wont stop anymore.

now, i heard that so cars use the power antenna to complete a ground. is this true for the max? anyone ahve experinece in this?? im ready to pull all hair out of my head!!!

thanks for taking the time to read this.. any info to fixing this issue would be greatfull.

I'm not completely positive about this, but I highly doubt the HU uses the power antenna as its only source of ground. Not only would this be a horrible engineering design (something goes funky with the antenna wiring, and all of a sudden the HU is not grounded), but I'm pretty sure that there is only one wire sent to the power antenna (think its blue) and that wire is +12V.

1) where exactly are you attaching your ground wires to? i hope its not to the Nissan Harness you bought... cause if you trace that black wire back into the stock harness you will find there is no ground in there. Nissan radios use chasis grounds rather than a wire for ground.

2) Your radio as of now would be recieving ground through the antenna cable which can lead to your radio turing off once in a while because its not getting a tru ground. I have seen this before many times with customers doin self installs. I would recommend grounding your headunits black wire and green wire to the back of the radio itself.(there will be a small empty hole on the rear, use a ring terminal and the supplied screw to secure your ground) Doin it this way would give you the best ground point with the least likely chance of you picking up engine noise. Cause if you think about it, when you reinstall the entire radio/climate control section your bolting it to two thick metal dash support beams.

3) the power antenna has nothing to do with your radio problem

try out my idea for the ground and see what happens

yep about 1 week. the 6500dvd's interanl amp is dead. im hoping that the pigtails for an external amp are not fried. i am hoping on hooking up a rockford 301x to this and getting sound.. and the worst part is that im prefrering the redmax setup at this point. along with pioneer dvd, cd, radio hu. i like the touch screen but the redmax looks cleaner and more stock..

so basically ur saying ground the headunit to the headunit. took some thinking but i think i understand waht ur sayign. the 6500 internal amp is dead. i plugged harnesses up and grounded wire tdirectly to chasis. nothing. the other one im nor sure of. i have the ground wire tied into the ground for the stock harnes and a third wire attached leading up to the bolts holing the bezel in place. (behind the vents) if i disconnect the harness ground and strictly use the vent ground, can that really make a diference if i have that donje already..???
