Rear blinker bulb part no. on 2K?

Has anyone changed the rear turn signal bulb on a 2000 Max? The Sylvania handbook says it is bulb 1156 but that bulb does not fit. The Maxima's stock bulb side prongs are different?

yeah it should be 1156 (according to sylvania's site). if all else fails, take the bulb to a local auto parts store, and have them get you a replacement.

I've never actually asked the guys at the parts store because they are usually idiots who know much. But I actually compared the stock bulb to all the Sylvania bulbs they have and none of them match. I even e-mailed sylvania about the discrepency and they said that Nissan is to blame for the wrong info.

I just thought someone else may have had this same problem but I guess the 5th gen is too new for this bulb to go out. The only reason I wanted to change them is to make them clear instead of amber. I ended up sanding of the amber and now its clear. But I would still love to find out what part number this darn bulb is.

Actually, the turn signal bulb in the 2K is of a different type bulb. It looks like a 1156, but it's not. It's actually bulb #PY21W. The 1156 will not fit because the base is of a different size. I have "Philips SilverVisions" in mine which are hella bright and has a silver coating to hide the amber reflection in the lens. Kinda pricey (about $20.00/pair), but well worth the money.

Thats awesome, thanks for the info. Just a couple of quick Qs: The part number you listed is for what brand? Phillips or universal? and where can I buy these bulbs?
