Partial replacement of Bose <---n00b question
Partial replacement of Bose system...
Hey, this is my first post. I couldn't really find a specific answer to this anywhere, and I apologize if the answer was right under my nose somewhere. Anyway, I have a 95 Bose SE, and I'm planning on droppin two 10"s in the trunk, as well as replacing the stock Bose head unit with the Alpine CDA-9807 HU. I'm looking for the cheapest but most effective route to go about doing this. I know that the stock Bose speakers are only 1 ohm, so hooking them up to a new head unit is practically worthless as the two are nowhere near compatible. What I'm trying to find out is: Is there is some sort of converter I can find somewhere that I can hook the stock Bose speakers up to with the new HU so that compatibility is no longer a problem (if yes, where to find it, and recommendation of what specifically), or do I need to dump a load of cash on new speakers all around?
you can have the new headunits output wired into the bose amps high level inputs. i dont know what wires are what but that would alleviate the need for any adapters besides the normal wire harness and dash kit if necessary
Ok, that might be helpful, but the problem is, I'm pretty sure my Bose system doesn't have an amp. Keep in mind it's a '95, and I can't find an amp anywhere in the car, so I'm guessing it's essentially ampless, until I add an aftermarket one.
i forgot the wire colors, but if you take apart each bose amp, there is an input side and and output side. all you need to do is cut the wires off of the input and output side, and connect them together. i've done it on a few different maximas, and they sound decent. it's not going to sound as good as new speakers, but it will get the job done until you can replace them.
