My amp stopped working when...just last night the power wire came unhooked so today I go to hook it up and it blows the amp fuse. I dont have any shorts in the wires or any bear spots... I dont know what to do any ideas? And the power light to the amp is on and the REM light is on too?? [FONT=Trebuchet MS] ANY IDEAS??

Did you check and recheck your ground where it attaches to the chassis. I had the same symptoms with my old xtant and found where I had grounded it to the chassis it had rusted and could not correctly complete that circuit.

Might be time to upgrade and/or replace. I wasn't thinking when I made my first post and forgot to add that I had to eventually "give that amp away". It too was old and well used by me. If you know anyone at a local shop where they can bench test the amp, that would solve the mystery. You could also try posting this on Termpro.com. I have found that to be a great resource.

That amp didn't look like it was in top notch condition when I saw it last week. And it wasn't exactly mounted firmly. In your max I know good locations to run all the wires, etc. In the chevy I have to learn by trial and error since I don't have a haines manual.

Did you check the speaker wires? Also hooking up the power wire can cause an Arc. It's always good to unhook the battery ground first. Then reconnect the battery ground after the power wire and fuse are replaced.

Ive done all that and I also re-ran all the wires under the seat after you said something..Like I told you when I was there it was hooked up quick. Ive done all that and it still keep blowing the fuse. Would the power light come on if the amp is fired?

In some cases yes. All the power light indicates is there is a power source hooked up, not that all is well with anything past that point.

The power LED normally gets DC positive from the remote lead. In some cases they do isolate so that it only comes on when the amp is actually on.
