i have read on the org that a convertor is needed such as the Pac or Scorsche convertors is neded to keep the Bose speakers.. I called a local install shop to get that and they said they can install my HU without the convertor by bypassing tha amps or something... has anyone heard of this and would they recommend doing the install without the convertor?? any help is appreciated... thanks

 

I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject, but I thought that the BOSE speakers were 1 ohm. Wouldn't bypassing the BOSE amp to 1 ohm speakers put a burden on the HU internal amp? People have had a lot of success using the PAC OEM-1 converter to retain the BOSE amp and speakers.

 

well i went ahead and let them install it without the convertor... they used some other harness and wired the HU up to the stock speakers... Now my radio sounds like the Bose should, alot clearer and crisper than the stock HU.. The Bose speakers sound great and i am 100% satisfied

 

i dont think i should have any problems with the HU and stock speakers for now, until i can replace them later.... the shop also said they have wired up systems like this before.. so i hope everything stays working fine

 

what shop is this, do they have any affiliates in NJ?

The shop that i had do the install is Tunes Car Stereo in Metairie, Louisiana 10 minutes away from New Orleans... They do a lot of installs and customize cars for Cash Money and a lot of people down here.. I do not believe they have any trelated businesses in NJ sorry... They sold me the install kit, fm antenna, and harness along with the install for a total of $103.00 which i think is very reasonable considering i do not really know how to install radios.

This also happens in my firedns 98 GLE..... but This doesnt happen with the stock Bose Hu.. When i got my radio installed i turned on the radio and the antenna went up; when i put a cd in the antenna went down and stays down which i am very happy about...

Ive done tons of them...no a cnvertor is not needed at all. It also does not affect the aftermarket radios amplifier due to the fact that it is not getting used. Only thing being used would be the preouts, in which case is signal only.

Are there any instructions online how to wire the speakers without using an adapter. I am currently running a Pioneer headunit with an adapter and think I have semi-blown the adapter. My speakers all of a sudden sounded like **** a few months ago and I was thinking about replacing them. As to the antenna, some headunits (like mine) do not have an extra power wire for a power antenna so the antenna is up whenever the headunit is on. What I did was wire a switch that I put in the ashtray so that the antenna is only up when I want it to be.

 

sorry i do not know of any instructions to do this install that are available online... maybe you can call a local audio shop and ask them to tell you how they can do it without using the convertor... my shop told me but i forgwot exacvtly how they said it..
