Problem with a bass tube

Here is the story.

I have installed an amplified bass tube today. But when I connected RCA cables (HU has sub outputs), it started to make "bum-bum-bum-...-bum" noise. Doesn't matter what music is playing ... doesn't matter how low-high volume is ... when RCAs disconnected evrything is fine (not a sound from it) ... even with one RCA plug (dosn't matter where and which one) it makes the same sound ..."bum-bum-...-bum"

Does anybody know what the problem is? ... - bad rca cable? - ... bad HU's sub outputs? ... - problem with bass tube itself?

Thanks,
Alex

Nope ... power - left side ... RCAs - right one.

As I mentioned, even with one RCA plug connected it makes the same sound with the same amplitude ... a mistery for me ...

how's the ground? make sure you scrape off some paint (if any) to make a good ground contact. all other connections are good?

All of the connections are good - I'm sure about that.
I read somewhere that some amplifiers try to use RCAs as a "ground" but it shouldn't be the case here - when RCAs are disconnected - unit powers up. Any other ideas?

BTW, mounting was a challenge too. I ended up buying 2 self-tightening straps - easy to install the tube and easy to remove when needed (say to get access to a spare), and a very clean look too. Also can be used to tighten something esle in the trunk (when needed to prevent moving aroung the trunk).

I might mispresented the problem. I wasn't talking about an additional noise - this is the the only sound it makes ("bum-bum-bum")

not sure man, kind of hard seeing the problem without being there. I'd try using a different set of RCAs in case the one you're using is bad. sorry I couldn't help much I know other people will chime in and give their $.02

anyway ... thanks for your help

I'm going to try tomorrow connecting it to other "low" outputs (front/rear) and, of course, I'll try new cables (taking out everything again is not much fun ...).
