Rear Deck rattle....need a link

guys,

i know that there's a link here somewhere on how to get rid of the rattle from the rear deck. I have 1 10" and it's really annoying. I saw a link earlier this year where some one had a "HOW TO" on fixing the rattle of the deck.. can anyone direct me???

Thanks in advance...

Not sure of the link, 5th generation rear deck sucks. But if you need help, with the install let me know. I used some roof foam (like Pink Panther), worked like a charm. I previously had some Raammat (Sound deadener better than Dynamat), helped a little bit.

What kind of sub do you have?

I mounted the roof foam (i.e. insulation pad) underneath the rear deck. It costed about $6.

That is what i need to do... exactly what you mention.. i know there is a how to somewhere... anyways..

I got a kicker 10 in an enclosed box.. it's not loud, it's good enough for me..

Where did you get your foam.. and could you tell me how to do this??

Thanks

Sean

3M Spray Adhesive. If you don't have any, get it, it rocks.

There will always be some rattle at the higher end of the volume range, unless you go completely custom. However, if you have sound deadenthe trunk, underneath the rear deck, the door panels; you honestly should not be able to hear anything rather annoying from inside the vehicle.

Also go to your local Home Depot, (customer service here in Falls Church,VA sux) or other hardware store to obtain the spray adhesive and foam insulation. I put on the foam on both the rear deck panel and the actual rear deck of the vehicle (not too thick or the rear deck will look like one hump camel). You don't need any special tools, all your doing is removing clips and screws and pulling off the plastic pillars.

Good Luck, I think instructions for removing the rear deck on the stickies (How to in 5th Gen. or maybe here in Audio forum)?

I have yet to use any type of rammmat dynamat or things of that nature

i have used underpadding for carpets, socks and house insulation.

For the rear deck on mine i removed all the stuff i needed to and used contact cement ontop and bottom of the deck then put contact cement on the carpet underpadding. that stuff is dense and worked perfectly.

I also took off my rear bumper because there is a foam insert behind the plastic bumper and that has ALOT of vibration so i put more underpadding in the rear bumper and on the foam insert (opposite sides)

might be overkill but i dont hear anything inside or out of my ride and i had 3 12" L7's but im down to 2

hm.. i had some rattling in my rear deck, so i put my hand on different areas to figure out where it was coming from, and when i found it i folded up some peices of cardboard and shoved them underneath the rear deck (from inside the trunk). pretty ghetto, but its impossible to see the little peices and there's no more rattling.

I have the same problem as everyones else. I have a JL 13w7 and the two cross bars in the trunk and the rear deck vibrate hella. I have a towel pried at the back of the rear deck and stuck a piece of foam where the bars are. I need to get the deck dynamatted. I hate that I spent so much money on a system and it sound like ****.
