adapters for mp3 players

i have a 98 se with the bose system in it. i am getting an ipod or some sort of mp3 player and i want to be able to hard wire it in i dont want to transmit over fm freq. my idea is to some how plug it in to the cd changer input i have seen adapters to turn the cd changer output into rca jacks for other head units. if i could get an adapter to go from the mini port to the cd changer or the rca to the cd changer i could make it work if anyone has seen some kind of adapter to do something like this let me know or if you have done something like this how.

tell me about it. i'm not positive if that would work, but I'm very interested. I just picked up a Samsung mp3 player and it would be nice to combine it with my Alpine head unit. keep me posted bro.

If your MP3 player has a volume control you could use an A/B switch to toggle between the stereo and the MP3 player. It would only work with equipment after the amps. What I mean is that if you have speakers that are powered by the headunit they wouldn't get the signal from the MP3. You also may need to boost the signal between the MP3 and the A/B switch.

Are you familiar with using an A/B switch to flip between tv and video game sources? Do the same thing between your headunit and amp in the car. Otherwise it is tough to add an accessory to a headunit that does not have a CD changer or auxiliary input.

Get one? How are you really going to enjoy all of those MP3's on a 10 watt factory headunit anyway? May as well be listening to AM radio.

Exactly, check the THD level when you get it up to the max of 45 watts.

just get a new HU that has an aux-input. or go to www.ipodlounge.com and check the In-car Solutions forum there. they'll help you out.

(i've got a 20 gig hooked up to my aux-input... all my friends want to ride in my car now )

New HU is the best and easieast way to do it. In fact I was wondering around a small junkyard yesterday, only about 10-15 cars. I saw at least 1 or 2 "decent" headunits and a 4 channel amp. Not top of the line equipment by any stretch, but stuff that could be had for about $5 at the junkyard and improve your sound system infinitely. Unfortunatly they didn't have any maxima's so I didn't find what I was looking for. And I didn't have a crowbar to get the trunks open either.

the reason i didnt change the system is cuz it sounds good if i change the head unit i might as well change it all i had the whole system already. i had a jvc mp3 cd player pioneer priemer speakers 2 6 x 9's 2 ways but i would have had to get new fronts cuz mine were 5 1/4s run by my pioneer priemer 4 channel amp.then my subs are 2 10" mtx roadthunders 6000(i think maybe 6500 dont remember) with an mtx roadthunder amp in a bandpass box. so i had the whole system sold the deck and the 4 main speakers kept the amps and subs. if i changed head unit i wouldnt need a input for it cuz i would have kept my jvc or got a new mp3 cd player. right now im just hoping to add my subs and an ipod to the stock bose. ineed the adapter to make this addition

check out the last one, its probably the closest thing that nissan owners can get right now, its an FM modulator, but its actually plugged into the unit, through the antenna plug, so its not through the radio frequencies, i dont know how well it will work though.

also, anyone wants a 20gb creative zen, i have one for sale, let me know

thanks i am checking into that at my work we have a couple different ones but the install guys(mecp certified) i talked to said that most of that would cause a hum or whinning noise in the bose system. so im going to give the delphi one a try and then go from there
