Wire Gauge Question

I just bought an 820 watt amp. I have only an 8 gauge power cable. If this amp RMS's @ 400 some odd watts and obviously hits a max of 820 watts, would i need a 4 gauge power cable? Thanks.

8 guage should be fine, but a 4 guage is much safer.

yeah your remote turn on lead should be ok. there's not very much current flowing through it anyways. your ground should be the same gauge as your power cable.

One more thing, how do you think my "soon-to-come-in" 800w Kenwood (Kenwood KAC-7201) hooked up to my 12" Kicker Comp VR (2 ohms).
