Need help choosing between JL and Alpine

What would be a better sounding package JL 250/1 with a 10w3dv2 or an Alpine MRD M300 with a 10 inch type R 2 ohms. Both of these packages will be in a sealed box.

The JL system is 200.00 more than the alpine is it worth it? any help with be appreciated.

Thanks

Hmm, if you're willing to spend the extra 200 for the JL, why not buy another 10" Type R ($100) and upgrade to an MR500 or something. Although the JL beats out the Type R in 4 out of 5 dentists, two Type Rs will probably sound better than a single 10w3dv2. That's what I have, and I love it.

if your considering spending $200 more for just 1 sub. either get 2 subs or get a bigger amp.

Thanks guys for all the info, the only reason why I was thinking about getting 1 sub only was because I wanted a sub that would fill in where bass was needed and to have a musical sounding system rather than a pouding earth shaking system.

Right now I am running an Alpine 7984 JL components up front and JL 2 ways in the rear powered by an eclipse 50 x 4

You could probably do better than both for the same amount of money. Are you buying online or in a audioshop?

I was going to go with Tweeter for the JL Audio stuff and for the Alpine I was going to go to a local shop, but man online prices are so cheap. What do you suggest?

no i did not get dynamat, and there are some rattles. I have not spent the time to isolate where exactly they are coming from. Usually I have the stereo so loud that you cant hear the rattle over the mids and highs anyway. I suspect the main culprit is the rear deck.

I've ehard good things about tweeter, although I've never been there because there's none around here. Are they installing it for you>?

For online shops try onlinecarstereo.com, thezeb.com, ikesound.com I've had good experience with all of those.

You can also use ebay. What I do, is make sure the seller has a high feedback rating and has sold a couple thousand items.

Some online audio manufacturers that I would recomend are...
edesignaudio.com
respl.com
adireaudio.com

Alpine makes some nice stuff, but hardly anything can touch JL's quality except for high end focal or mb quart. tweeter is a good place. if you're going to buy from a store, that's teh place i would go.

because they are known as more of an spl sub rather than sq. in the right install they can sound good. but in general people dont use them for sq. i thought about getting 1 12" l7 but i decided on my pg's and i dont regret it.

im with sk24iam, go to respl.com and check out the SE12. it's about $150 and puts out 600W RMS. and then check out the Hifonics Brutus1000D for it.
