Need help with fuse & grounding

What kind or fuse should I use if I have a 600 watt Kenwood amp powering 2 12" pioneer subs. I'm also using 8 gauge wire. Right now I have a 50 amp fuse, but it seems that it keeps sparking inside the fuse holder and getting burnt and the amp keeps shutting off (however the fuse is still intact) Someone help.....thanx By the way...where is the best place in our car to ground the amp?

grounds vary by vechile... most of the time a sold seatbelt bolt, or a solt bolt that is UNPAINTED (if its painted remove the paint with a wirebrush, etc..)

take a look at your amp, what is the amp's fuse rating? example does it have 2 30amp fuses or 1 40 amp fuse? lemme know and i can tell you..

hope that helps explain it, also where is your ground wire going to? that might be the cause of your problem....

On the amp, I have 1 40 amp fuse. Right now, the ground is going to one of the screws which holds the back seat.

Best bet is to check with the amp's recommended fuse ratings. What do you mean by the fuse is sparking but remains intact?

he means when he first connects the wire he gets a spark, which is normal because the wire has nothing in it, and then you connect it to a flood of power, which will cause it to spark a little... not a big deal...

as a general rule, never use a fuse below the amps rated fuse, because thats its safe level, you can use the same, or use a fuse that is safe for the wire.. with 8 gauge wire, i wouldnt use anything more then a 40amp fuse, as much more you could run the risk of burning up the wire, its always better to be safe then sorry in this area...
