Bose CD player stopped working

I have a 97 GLE. Today my CD player (stock bose) stopped working. It was playing a CD, then I ejected it and put in another one. It just does not play the CD anymore. Just says "Err" and ejects the CD. I have tried at least 5-6 different CDs with the same behavior. Would be great if someone could give me some info on what the problem might be.

Thanks.

Unfortunatly you've just entered the realm of the Bose headunit problems. (I bet it actually says "CD ERR")
At least your display still works lol...
Your options are:
o Pay $100-$150 to have it professionally repaired
o Buy a used one on ebay ($80-$150) and sell yours

I'm looking for spare parts so I'd be interested, but you might want to try selling it on ebay. Not sure how much you'd get but might be worth a shot.

Sorry man.

So any car audio shop could repair it for 100-150$?
If i decide to replace mine, i won't mind giving mine to yours. Will let you know. Also, I was just checking the Audio part of the forum and someone has reported that using a lens cleaner might fix the problem. Will try that out first.
Thanks a lot MadChef.

Third option: Add on a 6 disc changer and just stop using your broken CD player. At least your getting some gain for your $$$.

These guys will fix it for $135 or something. There are various other ones online, and there are also ebay auctions for Bose repair (similar prices). Haven't heard about local guys, but I imagine it's possible.

Give the cleaner a shot. Your problem is most likely with a dying power board (inside the bose), but can't hurt to try it.

Good luck.
