HID Phillips Conversion HELP...

No response in 5th gen forum, so here it is:

2000 Max, Please help-->

1) The "power outlet for headlamp". What is the location of this? It seems like it hooks up to the original connector that connects to the headlight bulb. Is this correct? And if so, anyone know what side to hook it up too? Drivers? Passengers? There is only one.

2) Ballast location. I can install the drivers side ballst underneath the fenderwall, but the passenger side has the wiper fluid tank incumbering me, anyone have good locations for ballasts inside the engine compartment? ANYONE???

Thanks in advance for any and all help

If you can't answer these ?'s yourself, I don't recommend you installing these yourself.

Igor you're so lame; No wonder people don't like you. The whole point of internet forums are to exchange information and gain insight from knowledgable people who have "been there and done that." You shouldn't assume anything and while your at it stop being a *****.

Honda >> Most people mount their ballasts underneath their headlamp assembly using double sided tape. This insures that the ballasts stay out of site and are tucked away nicely.

Also is this an OEM conversion that you got from another manuf. such as BMW? or is this a aftermarket kit that you bought. If it's the latter you should have relays connected to plugs that directly connect to your existing headlight harness. A picture of your kit would help if you have one.

If he doesn't know the answer to these basic questions, it is better a professional does the work to insure that it is done properly and SAFELY.

This isn't a HONDA nor a HONDA forum. If you knew WTF you were talking about then you would know NOT TO mount the ballast under the headlight in a Maxima. Between the headlight and bumper there is a crack, and when it rains, water flows into that crack causing the ballast to become SOAKED in water which then causes the HID not to function.

The CORRECT way to mount them would be to place the ballasts BEHIND the headlamp.

This would insure a DRY location and a great ground while also having room for wire slack in mind.

Come again?

Nismo, Igor is 1000000% correct...HID installs should be left to the pros....

FYI HID ballasts need 20,000 volts to engage and afterwards ramp down to 35 watts to run the bulbs and thats why they are so efficient but at the same time the 20,000 volts is the reason why ballasts have a WARNING sticker attached to them resulting in electrocution if you were to touch them at the connection points when they were running.

and he is also correct about the water damage.

Nismo, I suggest you stop posting crap or put ur money where ur mouth is and post some pics of your whip....I think both Igor and I would like to have some fun

Igor might be at times, but when it comes to this ****, he has a good understanding

Igor the stock HID ballast is mounted below the headlight assembly, that is where it is on your 2k2. Don't try and come correct me on this, go out to your car and look, it screws to the housing. Try and say I am wrong. Shabby you have no clue, go chill wit your homies and shut it....

Update, I am aware the stock ballasts are shielded Gaygor, its not too hard to make a simple splash shield. Don't get me started on you and your headlight projects, those were a disaster

you're a punk, not a smart one either.

The stock HID ballast is SHIELDED with a plastic peice. That peice covers the water from hitting the ballast u putz.

You owned your self. It screws into the plastic peice which SCREWS INTO THE HOUSING.

look at this pic Al:

and you know what, YOU'RE WRONG

Thankyou, please drive thru

Shabbs, I will buy 4 of your car and my SER will outrun your auto gay sorry bigman. You have no clue what SRs are capable of do you. When you can step into my arena bigman, then let's talk. I did the 2k2 HID conversion on my old 2k and I am well aware of HID installs, it isn't rocket science...

Next please.....

You just owned yourself, make a $2 shield and mount it to the bottom or do the 2k2 conversion....

Please keep it to topic, anything else is can be discussed over PM.

Such GD hippocrites

bashing the guy for needing help with headlights. I could have sworn I remember Igor back in the day melting one of his in an oven trying to make his look like AE's.

As to Jason, as you say toolman, thank God he gets his hands dirty. It's members like him, UMD, Kevin, and others that I might have missed that have helped someone like myself learn.

Igor why can't you just apologize for wasting bandwidth and everyones time, as well as apologize for ruining this guys thread.

Why do you insist on talking talking talking, when then quickest way to prove that you're not an idiot is to just shutup in the first place.

As for NT2SHBBY aka. Sterling Pimp, what you said is nothing we don't know already. Yes, you can cause serious bodily injury by messing with the ballast while it's firing, and yes you can also seriously hurt yourself by sticking a metal fork in a live socket. Many people on this forum will agree though that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to install aftermarket HIDs.

You guys should be glad that this wasn't posted in the general forum, cause then everyone would know just how much of a jack@*** you two sound like. I swear you guys must be brothers.

Oh and btw.. thanks for posting that pic igor... prime example of how the ballasts are mounted underneath the headlamp nicely tucked away out of site like I had mentioned earlier. You really are a sucker.... NO WONDER NO ONE LIKES YOU.

Summary of this thread:

HIDs aren't too hard to install if the directions are followed, Igor and Shabby are morons that love each other and both of them live at home with their mothers....

Please lock this thread as Igor has ruined another person's thread.......

You're clearly a moron.

You know what, go ahead and INSTALL THE BALLAST UNDER THE HEADLIGHT Then when you get water and it f*cks it up, LIKE IT HAPPENED TO ME ONCE, I will laugh in your stupid ignorant face.

When you buy a maxima, holla

Igor, maybe you should have followed your own advice and had a prof install your kit the first time. I said it doesn't take a rocket scientist but obviously it's not for tards either. Lol. No wonder you're so angry.

NT2shbby >> newbie eh? Try again Mr. March 2003. BTW why don't you scroll up and see who was asking the questions, genius. Please get your facts straight before you post; ok pimp? Also I'd worry about your own busted lookin ride before you think about flaming other peoples. If you hurry, maybe you can join a support group for "people who actually paid good money for ugly@ss grilles."

LoL chumps. I hope someone locks this thread soon cause i'm having way too much fun with you biatches.

Wheres your whip homie, my name is shabbs and I am white but I can't figure that out.... Get real and Al is not a newbie and has owned a maxima much longer than you, he had HIDs while you were being kicked off of the Altima board for this same type of crap.....

Igor he has a Maxima and you know this. How can you call someone ignorant Igor, you couldn't install your own suspension and had to pay someone to do it. Don't call someone an idiot when you clearly fit the mold, if you want to have a battle of wits, you and shabbs can team up and my 6-year old niece would outsmart both of you....

Now both of you step away from the keyboard and look up the word "clue", write down the definition and learn it. Because neither of you know the meaning now.....

Regards,
Cutlr

This thread is too funny. What cracks me up, is that I actually think you guy have answered the initial question, but still are going back and forth at each other about nothing really. The .org is so entertaining.
