4th gen trunk rattle?
hey, im looking to install two audiobahn 10" flame q's, and a fosgate 851s amp. i've got a 96 gle, and does the trunk rattle profusely? Im gonna assume it will with that much bass, but is dynamat, or other sound deadener needed? I dont want to sound all ghetto and hear no bass, only rattle. Any input would be great, thanks

you definately need to sound dampen the trunk if you put subs in there. i just installed a single 12" and i have most of my trunk sound dampened and the trunk lid vibrates the most. i will need to finish sound dampening the inside to see if i can reduce it.

yes. be prepared.the lild lid will rattle. looking at my trunk my 2 12" 's you can see the lid flex in and out. metal is too thin back there. if at all possible get some spray sound dampining. and spray it in the gaps in the trunk. then dynamnat over everything. the dynamat need to touch the area that is vibrating and it can't on out trunk cause there is about a 4' inch gap. (at least there is on my 95).

i dont know which route to go with sound dampener. i had tried second skin audio in my acura legend, and i put 2-3 layers over the entire trunk, and the trunk still rattled like i didnt put anything in there

lol make sure you have nothing in the spare wheel well, i had a penny in there and it was making this horrible rattle it sounded like my trunk was about to fall off... removed the penny, nice and quiet except the bumper and the license plate now =o
