2 12's in a generic box... thats a very good number. Get a custom box in there that's built to spec, and you can watch those numbers rise.

I dont need a "custom box" --- my box IS custom. I can seal it and vent it whenever I want. 8 lil screws...and some foam padding.

Yeah I am surprised to you hit that with a prefab box. What kind of mic did they use? Where was it mounted? I think I gonna get my car metered this summer.

You use the same box for your sealed enclosure as well as for your vented enclosure...lol. What is your tuning frequency of it vented? I highly doubt that box is "sealed" by just 8 screws and foam padding. Your subs use the same net internal volume for both sealed and vented applications?

Sorry man, just doesn't seem custom to me. Seems like its one of these pre-fab generic wonders. Did you build it your self to spec, or was this bought off the shelf?

Almost every single subwoofer I've ever come across, requires SIGNIFICANTLY greater volume when ported than sealed to operate efficiently as the subwoofer was designed. I highly doubt that your box is anywhere near properly tuned for either if it was designed to have removable seals for the port. Do you realize how much stiffness is required to extract good numbers out of a box?

I'm sure your spl would have been higher if you tested it as a ported configuration. It's really all about the enclosure design.

Yeah it woulda been higher if it were vented.

KingRukus....I dont mean it's custom as in I made it. It's better than other normal boxes.

Not a bad score man, and as I always seem to do I dont want to rain on any1's parade but it seems like you had a db happy mic
The last Usaci meet I went to they had a new mic that measured the pressure level & every1 was hitting 5-10db lower then normal. Hell even guys that were hitting 150+db were now hitting low 140's.
Setups that we know for a fact are capable of hitting mid 140's were barley breaking mid 130's
Needless to say every1 upset

I was so turned off by it, I didnt even test mine.

This box is not custom at all

A good "Custom box" is build to fit your subs according to the manufacturers spec, it is also made to fit your car.

Our local Best Buy sells these boxes for dirt-cheap

BIG understatment. 5-10db is a huge difference. Think about it this way, every 6db is 2x louder to the ear. Thats a drastic drop on a mic.

Hate to say it, but it was DB happy.....No way you can hit that , with that setup. I have seen Jettas and others with no back seats, and multiple subs hit that ......and my system can rock at that level.....I agree with Hitman .

Yeah, YOUR best buy. The box I have is perfect for what I need. I dont fockin enter sound competitions to get the highest. I dunno why you people are making seem like it.

138.6 in a sealed box isnt too bad, gsumax has 1 JL w7 in a vented box NOT SPECIFIED FOR A w7...and he hit 139. Probalby BECAUSE it's a vented box and he folded his rear seat down.

Gordo...you can play whatever song you want. It's a real skinny microphone that has a wire running to a "brain" where it reads the dBs.

SlickRick...I'll take pics soon.

If your trying to get loud, go with a ported box tuned high. Somewere in the area of 55hz. Its basically only good for playing one note REALLY loud. Songe you can play, but if your serious about SPL you just run a test tone. If you dont know what note to play, they just give you a CD that gradually sweeps.

That song has a wicked low end, it doesnt hit hard or anything but it shakes you & your ride down to the core I love to use that song to sneak up on people, starts off all calm with soft highs, then comes a 30hz note that peaks for 4-5sec It can get pretty painful though

Actually I belive it dips a bit lower, 28hz at some points but I dont recall it going much lower. There is a comp program, I "think" its called Goldwave (I have like 10+ sound programs on my comp) and it can actually read how low it dips. If its not Goldwave, then I apologize but one of the programs can read it.

Another way is by seeing multiple people post about it
