wiring question: external amp control lead

hey there --

I'm about to install a completely new system in my 4th gen, including one
of RedMax's screens...the issue is how do I get the amp and screen to "power
up" when the stereo does.

Currently, the HU has a "external amp control lead" that is indicated to be
wired up to the "REMOTE" on the amp so that the amp knows to "turn on"
when the stereo does.

Can I hook up the amp as well as the video screen to this wire?
Will I fry anything?
I can also wire the amp to the "ACC" power wire -- should i?

ANY help is appreciated.

does the screen have a remote turn on input? if so then u can wire it to the same amp turn on lead, but do not use the amp turn on lead as the screens power supply.

the amp turn on lead should be ran to the amps turn on terminal...the power for the amp goes straight to the battery (fused at the battery), and rounded near the amp...you could wire an ACC wire to the amps turn on terminal, but that would mean that ur amp would be on when the car starts regardless if ur radio is on or not. ur power cable for ground and power for t he amp should be like 4 AWG or bigger...and the screen should get power from the HU, that's not a problem, then just ground it.

think so...there are 4 wires: 1 video in...1 positive, 1 negative and 1 "positive for turn on"...this is what I figured would be wired to the HU's "external amp control lead"

I assume you meant the power is GROUNDED near the amp?

some more questions:
-- Is there any danger to the screen/amp/HU if I wire BOTH the AMP and the
Screen to the "external amp control lead"???

-- Anyone know what ppl are using to power up one of RedMax's screens???

Thanks!!!

amps negative gets grounded near the amp...no danger at all with wiring the amp turn on lead to amp and screen, it just latches internal relays in the amp and tv, it doesnt actually power the units, it just turns them on
