How would you tell if your max came with the bose system or the
non bose system ? I have a 2001 Se that has had the oem radio taken out.
The harness have been cut / spliced to hell and back . ( one
harness is about 2 inches long , the second is about an inch and a
half , and the third seems to be about an inch
if that helps any ? ? ? ? I seem to have what
look like tweeters on both front windshield pillars ? I meant to check the rear
speakers to see what they looked like .

Thanks,

Steve

What about the rear deck. Only the bose equipped max's had the grill for the sub on the rear deck with BOSE on it.

If I had a head unit , uh it would be uh simple to tell what it was ? ? ? ?
thats why I was asking , I only have the 4 door speakers ( and 2 on the wind
shield pillars ? ? ) no sub , no amp in the trunk , which I think the Bose had ?
So I guess it did not have a bose hu . Thanks .

it is very easy, look in your trunk. look at the back speakers. if you see a black unit attached to the rear speaks, you have bose. (the black unit is the amp for that speaker.) also, the rear speaker grill with say "bose" on it.

g/l

This would be true if in the 5th gens the rear speakers were mounted in the trunk.
Best thing would be is to pull out the radio and check the wire harness and check it vs. the wire diagram on studman's webpage.

you guys aren't paying attention...

he can't pull out the oem deck and look at the harness, because it's already been pulled out and the harness has been cut off

check this out steve: pop your trunk, then look at the bottom of the parcel shelf. on the passenger side, there may be a black box. this is (was) your bose amp, if so equipped. it is also very possible that you have a bose subwoofer in the rear as well. this will be visible on the bottom of the parcel shefl smack in the center. If you do not have a sub or amp back there, congratulations! you do (did) not have a crappy bose system!

thanks for all the feedback , the system was not a bose , the radio / cd unit was an older mid 90's model clarion . Got the new Kenwood cd / mp3 / sirius system going over the weekend , pretty easy hookup , sounds great even on oem speakers , they are next , also got the satellite turner and antenna , but listed them on ebay , with the mp3 deck , i don't need the saellite now . touched one wire the wrong way and lost dash , parking lites , and blinkers !! luck was on my side 4 a change , just a fuse . Thanks again ,
Steve
