I was wondering if anyone has been able to flush mount their single din (iso) CD deck with the dash. I just bought a new Sony 750 ES deck and it sticks out a 1/2 inch. I read somewhere else that someone bought a mounting kit that flush mounted without any mods, anyone know for sure? I looked into have a shop custom drill some new holes and they said that it would make the CD player skip more, is that true? I don't see why. Thanks in advance.

You should buy a kit they don't cost that much and make the install look good. There are different ways to mount the HU, you can buy brackets that will hold it in place, you can drill and make some new holes. You should play around and figure out how you want it to look.

whatever shop told you that should NEVER be given your business again. those people are just too damn lazy to do easy custom work that they can't charge a buttload for.

also, it depends on your mounting brackets in the car. the ones on mine were pieces of sheetmetal that had holes drilled in them to mount the stereo. I simply made new brackets out of some scrap aluminum and drilled the holes where I wanted them. no problems with skipping or anything at all.

Geocities is stupid...

What you'll have to do is click the links, then when they show up in the new window, highlight the addy again in your address bar and hit enter.. then they'll load.
stupid, eh?

Geo****ties did this to prevent people from simply linking to images from other servers and pages.

Well, I'm realizing that my Sony is notorious for skipping problems, someone else mentioned it on some other board. So, I'm getting the deck upgraded to probably the Kenwood MP3 player. The KDC-MP8017 will fit flush without any modifications, but I'd rather get the new Z828, with it's better display, but I don't think this one mounts flush, damn. Also, I found a company that sells recessed din/iso mounting kits so that a standard radio like my Sony will fit flush. Check out www.scosche.com at look at the Honda Civic kit under Press release.
