Since I am the proud owner of 2 bottles of S-711 Cassette head cleaning fluid, I want to know what head cleaning cassette I can use with this solution without damage to the head cleaning cassette. I have tried Allsop3s but the only ones that seem to work are the ones where you are able to replace the felt pads yourself and I am having little to no luck finding those anymore.

Hmm the only one's I've used are Alsop3's or Discwasher, but that was a long time ago since I've had a tape deck in my car

S-711 is the best head cleaning solution on the market. Usually, this stuff is sold in high end stereo shops. I have used this since 1989 and swear by it. In fact, I "resurrected" an old Cassette deck that would eat tapes no matter what my old boss in A/V would use. She told me that if I cleaned it, I could have the deck. I took the S-711 and my Allsop 3 way cleaner cassette to it. Needless to say, I walked out with the deck.
Granted, it is around $11/bottle, but it lasts you a very long time and a couple of drops on the Allsop cleans the heads, capstans and pinch rollers very effectively.

S-711 can be found at....

I bought mine at a high end stereo/home theater shop called Sound and Vision in Orland Park, IL. The first bottles I bought were $11, now I think they are something like $8.
If you can't find it in your area, Let me know and I'll see if I can get you some. If all else fails, I can give you my extra bottle.

Word of Warning

Try not to let the stuff get in contact with plastics or painted surfaces. This stuff will seriously screw it up badly.

if it melts plastic, it's most likely acetone based... acetone will clean damn near anything (and melt most types of plastic too)..
usually when I'm cleaning the heads and stuff on my tape decks, I just use some cotton swabs and ethyl alcohol. isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) if nothing else is available.

has always worked well for me.
be sure to demagnetize the heads too..

and yeah, I've heard of S-711 before, but it's been a while. my tape decks and stuff have been in the attic for years.
the only thing I ever mess with anymore is my VCR, which I use about twice a year.
