Escort 8500 direct wire?

Hi,

Just a general question. If the Escort Passport 8500 takes the RJ11 connection (telephone cord), wouldn't it be simple to make my own cord and run the wire? Of course put in an inline fuse for the cord. Has anyone done this before? Thanks in advance!

I just recently purchased mine (I LOVE it) and that would be great to know. God forbbid I go to a local electronics shop and charge me some bogus price for a hard wire install.....

People have done it, but I don't have the search feature and can't pull up the threads either. I just bought one as well, and will be doing the install soon.

Yeah, i caved in and bough the cord. The only reason why I was trying to find a cheaper way of doing this was because I saw my friend's V1. He had it sent to work and we opened the V1. It came with the hard wire kit already. So I'm thinking if I paid $239.99 for the 8500, it should come with the hard wire kit. BUt the V1 didn't come with the hard case as the 8500. Guess its a give and take. I'll try to post pics once I hard wire my detector in.
