Well I could immediately tell the difference in sound and feel of my subs. All that air being moved around needed to go somewhere. I bet it would have still rattled a little bit if I didn't port it. I was going to port the rear deck the same as my box is ported, but I couldn't find the black trim piece so I decided the bose grille and a bigger hole would look better. If you have a big system, I would totally recommend it. Out of everything I've done to my max, that was the best decision I've made. Good luck

SLICKRICK - I used sheet metal clippers to cut the hole, but you could use anything. Heavy duty scissors for that kind of stuff, but I don't know about a dremel. I think the plasic would melt when cutting and the fibers on the rear deck would get tangled in it.
I got the Bose Grille from Courtesy Nissan in Texas. I don't know the web site, but do a search and you will. It's not on their website so you'll have to call. I think it was about $18
OOMAX - After completely removing the rear deck hold the foam up in the window. I got a large sharpie marker and traced the back shape onto the foam. I then cut that off and had to do some more trimming to get the part by the window to fit right. Then I trimmed the front down until it all looked right. By taking the rear deck completely off and out of the seat belts will help you. Make sure everything fits under neath it all before putting the rear deck back together.

its just a thought. it seems that stupid cut in it makes the rear deck worse. but this summer i plan on deadening with edeadv3 and thought that "porting" the rear deck would be cool. quick ? hitman. on the ooold post about my subs and porting with xmax, with that program i was playing with it because i was bored and i have a quick ?. when i do cone excursion, is that both ways, or just 1 way xmax?
