Does the Stock Headunit have a built in Crossover?

I am replacing just the speakers in the max, but my question, in an 03 Max SE, does the headunit contain the crossover between the main speakers and the tweeters? or is there a crossover somewhere to replace when i replace the speakers?

TIA

Erik

there is no xover. there is a cap on the tweet to prevent low frequencies getting to it.

eh, 1 of the 2. but the bottom line is that it blocks low frequencies from playing into the tweeter. there is no xover. its like those "bass blocker" things crutchfield has for sale, but its for your tweeters.

Inline resistor gives 6db/octave filtering.

While the factory tweeter is definately 4ohm (says so on it), is the mid 4ohm as well? I did not think so.
