Wire Tapping Question

Hey guys,

Just a simple question ... I looking to see which wire I should tap for my AMP Remote wire (?? sends the signal to power on the amp) based on the service manual diagrams ... I've narrowed it down to either: "Power GND" to the woofer, or the "AMP On/Off" wire or should I tap the wire from the battery to the woofer?

Sorry this may seem very confusing ... but I'm sure someone out there understands.

OR any suggestions on which other wire I can tap??

"AMP On/Off" most of them a re blue/black or blue/white or power antenna wire

Power GND is the power ground or aka ground you don't ground it the turn on is small voltage to turn the amp on..
are you using the stock deck?
all you need to hook it to is a switched source like when you switch your car on...it will come on...

both of those posts were kinda confusing but ill try and give my .02. The amp has power from the battery, ground to the chassis/metal, and turn on, which comes from the head unit so that when you turn the head unit on, the amp turns on.

there are 2 wires you can use for the turn on wire, power antenna, or remote turn on. if you have a factory deck, most likely the power antenna wire will only be on when the radio is on, not for cd or whatever, but if you have an aftermarket deck, either wire will work. the best thing to do is get a $5 test light at walmart, so that when you hook the test light to a ground, you can see if a wire has power or not, and play around seeing if it comes on with the ignition, radio/cd, etc.

if you tap into the wire coming from the battery for the remote wire, your amp will be on all the time, even when your car is off, so if you do something like this as a last resort, get a on/off switch from walmart that you can hook up in-line, so you can turn the amp on/off whenever you want.

hope this helps, good luck
